Il Quartetto Alioth nasce nel 2019 presso la Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, nella classe di quartetto di Edoardo Rosadini e dei membri del Quartetto Lyskamm. Il gruppo è composto da: Matilde Urbani e Sofia Morano (violini), Anna Avilia (viola) e Margherita Pasquini (violoncello).
È stato protagonista di vari concerti e festival musicali in Italia, tra cui il concerto di apertura della 73esima edizione dell’Estate Fiesolana al Teatro Romano di Fiesole, la stagione estiva del Teatro Borsi al Chiostro del Duomo di Prato, l’11esima edizione del Livorno Music Festival, la Stagione 2021-22 dei Concerti della Cappella Paolina al Quirinale in diretta live su Rai Radio3, la Stagione 2022 della Fondazione Walton ai Giardini La Mortella, la Settima e l’Ottava edizione del Festival Sibelius – Golfo del Tigullio, la Stagione 2023 dei Sabati all’Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna e l’Undicesima edizione del Festival Suoni Riflessi, con la partecipazione straordinaria del violoncellista Enrico Dindo.
Nel maggio 2022 il gruppo è stato selezionato per entrare a far parte della rete delle Dimore del Quartetto e nel settembre dello stesso anno ha partecipato al prestigioso campus estivo di Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland a Weikersheim, frequentando le lezioni del Quartetto Vogler e di Valentin Erben (Quartetto Alban Berg); grazie alle Dimore del Quartetto ha partecipato, sempre nel settembre 2022, alla Espresso Masterclass tenuta a Cassine con Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona), Jennifer Stumm e Mark Messenger.
Il Quartetto Alioth è stato scelto per il progetto speciale di ECMA Pro 2022, incentrato su un’azione scenica su Le ultime sette parole di Cristo sulla croce di Haydn, da un’idea di Alexander Lonquich, con la produzione di un documentario dedicato. In circa nove mesi di tempo, il Quartetto ha avuto la possibilità di ricevere la guida teatrale e attoriale di Francesca Della Monica e la guida musicale del Cuarteto Casals, per poi esibirsi nel luglio 2023 a Firenze presso il Murate Art District nell’ambito dei concerti della ECMA Session Fiesole 2023.
I membri del gruppo hanno frequentato due anni (2021-22 e 2022-23) di corso di perfezionamento annuale del Cuarteto Casals e del Maestro Heime Müller (Quartetto Artemis) alla Scuola di Musica di Fiesole; hanno anche partecipato a masterclass di quartetto di Hatto Beyerle (Quartetto Alban Berg), Vicente Huerta, Cristiano Rossi e del Quartetto Lyskamm, Quartetto Klimt, Barnabàs Kelemen.
Collaborano spesso con importanti orchestre della Toscana (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Camerata di Prato), proseguendo parallelamente con i propri studi individuali.
L’ensemble frequenta attualmente il Master di Musica da Camera nella classe di Oliver Wille (Quartetto Kuss) presso la Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (DE).

The Quartetto Alioth was founded in 2019 at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, in the quartet class of Edoardo Rosadini and members of the Quartetto Lyskamm. The group is composed of Matilde Urbani and Sofia Morano (violins), Anna Avilia (viola) and Margherita Pasquini (cello).
The group has been the protagonist of various concerts and music festivals in Italy, including the opening concert of the 73rd edition of the Estate Fiesolana at the Teatro Romano di Fiesole, the summer season of the Teatro Borsi at the Chiostro del Duomo di Prato, the 11th edition of the Livorno Music Festival, the 2021-22 Season of the Concerti della Cappella Paolina al Quirinale live on Rai Radio3, the 2022 Season of the Fondazione Walton at the Giardini La Mortella, the 7th and 8th editions of the Sibelius Festival – Golfo del Tigullio, the 2023 Season of Sabati all’Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna and the 11th edition of the Suoni Riflessi Festival, with the extraordinary participation of cellist Enrico Dindo.
In May 2022, the Quartet was selected to join the network of the Dimore del Quartetto and in September of the same year took part in the prestigious summer campus of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland in Weikersheim, attending lessons with the Vogler Quartet and Valentin Erben (Alban Berg Quartet); thanks to the Dimore del Quartetto, it participated, also in September 2022, in the Espresso Masterclass held in Cassine with Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona), Jennifer Stumm and Mark Messenger.
The Quartetto Alioth was chosen for ECMA Pro 2022’s special project, focusing on a stage action on Haydn’s The Last Seven Words of Christ on the Cross, based on an idea by Alexander Lonquich, with the production of a dedicated documentary. Over a period of about nine months, the Quartet received the theatrical and acting guidance of Francesca Della Monica and the musical guidance of Cuarteto Casals, and then performed in July 2023 in Florence at the Murate Art District as part of the ECMA Session Fiesole 2023 concerts.
The members of the group attended two years (2021-22 and 2022-23) of the annual specialisation course with the members of the Cuarteto Casals and Maestro Heime Müller (Quartetto Artemis) at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole; they have also participated in quartet masterclasses with Hatto Beyerle (Quartetto Alban Berg), Vicente Huerta, Cristiano Rossi, the Quartetto Lyskamm, the Quartetto Klimt, Barnabàs Kelemen.
They often collaborate with important orchestras in Tuscany (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Camerata di Prato), continuing in parallel with their individual studies.
The ensemble is currently studying for their Masters in Chamber Music in the class of Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartett) at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (DE).

Il Quatuor Iro (色) prende il nome dal vibrante spettro dei colori, rispecchiando le ricche sfumature tonali e la sconfinata creatività che si sforzano di condividere attraverso le loro esibizioni. Fondato nel 2024, l’ensemble è stato sotto la guida del Prof. Marc Danel fin dall’inizio.
Per l’anno accademico 2024-2025, il Quartetto è membro della Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Academie, dove beneficerà di masterclass con musicisti rinomati, tra cui membri del Quartetto Hagen e del Quartetto Danel. La loro profonda affinità con la musica di Shostakovich li ha portati a lavorare con Alan George, membro fondatore del Fitzwilliam Quartet, che ha collaborato direttamente con Shostakovich stesso.
La stagione 2024/2025 segna un’entusiasmante pietra miliare per il Quatuor Iro, con debutti allo Spot Groningen, al Festival Schiermonnikoog e al Festival Storioni nei Paesi Bassi, nonché al Génération Chaise-Dieu Program del Festival de la Chaise-Dieu in Francia.
Composto da quattro musicisti impegnati – Oscar Hatzfeld e Ayaka Ishiwatari (violini), Clément Pimenta (viola) e Cyprien Lengagne (violoncello) – il Quatuor Iro riunisce diversi background musicali. Ciascun membro si è distinto in concorsi e persegue una promettente carriera solistica accanto all’attività cameristica.

The Quatuor Iro (色) takes its name from the vibrant spectrum of colors, mirroring the rich tonal nuances and boundless creativity they strive to share through their performances. Founded in 2024, the ensemble has been under the mentorship of Prof. Marc Danel since its inception.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Quartet is a member of the Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Academie, where they will benefit from masterclasses with renowned musicians, including members of the Hagen Quartet and the Danel Quartet. Their deep affinity for Shostakovich’s music has led them to work with Alan George, founding member of the Fitzwilliam Quartet, who collaborated directly with Shostakovich himself.
The 2024/2025 season marks an exciting milestone for the Quatuor Iro, with début performances at Spot Groningen, Schiermonnikoog Festival, and Storioni Festival in the Netherlands, as well as at the Génération Chaise-Dieu Program of the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu in France.
Comprising four dedicated musicians—Oscar Hatzfeld and Ayaka Ishiwatari (violins), Clément Pimenta (viola), and Cyprien Lengagne (cello)—the Quatuor Iro brings together diverse musical backgrounds. Each member has distinguished themselves in competitions and pursues a promising solo career alongside their chamber music endeavors.

Vincitori del concorso Royal Over-Seas League 2024 e artisti della City Music Foundation 2025, il pluripremiato Kyan Quartet riunisce quattro eccezionali musicisti provenienti da Regno Unito, Stati Uniti, Cina e Francia. Fondato nel 2020, il quartetto vanta una carriera intensa e vivace, essendosi esibito in tutta Europa e in Asia in sedi quali Wigmore Hall, St. Martin in the Fields, Beethoven-Haus Chamber Music Hall, Shanghai Opera House e Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Hall.
In qualità di vincitori del Tunnell Trust, il quartetto sarà in tournée in Scozia a febbraio. Non vedono l’ora di unirsi al Quartetto Carducci nel progetto del ciclo Shostakovich al Barbican, con tre esibizioni da marzo a maggio a Milton Court. Tra gli altri appuntamenti in programma figurano i debutti a St. John Smith Square, alla Barnes Music Society e al Canterbury Music Club. Continuando la loro collaborazione con Ahmed Dickinson, i Kyans torneranno alla Conway Hall il prossimo novembre per un programma di quintetti per chitarra. Il quartetto è grato di essere sostenuto da Le Dimore del Quartetto.
I Kyan hanno tenuto residenze con il Britten Pears Young Artist Programme e il South Downs Summer Music International Festival, e hanno vinto posti in corsi prestigiosi, tra cui l’International Beethoven Masterclass di Bonn, il 68° International Chamber Music Campus di Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland e l’Hans Keller Forum inaugurale di Chamber Studio. In questi corsi hanno ricevuto l’assistenza di tutti i membri del Quartetto Belcea, Heime Müller, John Myerscough, Jana Kuss, Alasdair Beatson e Péter Nagy. Il quartetto è stato anche allenato da membri dei Quartetti Carducci, Doric, Heath, Jerusalem e Pavel Haas. Attualmente sono seguiti all’Università Mozarteum da Cibrán Sierra Vazquez, Rainer Schmidt e William Coleman.
L’ampliamento della partecipazione e dell’accesso alla musica è al centro della missione artistica del quartetto. Sono artisti di Live Music Now e condividono il loro amore per la musica partecipativa in case di riposo e scuole SEND. Il quartetto tiene masterclass e lavora con giovani compositori presso la Junior Royal Academy of Music. In qualità di borsisti 2022/23 dell’Open Academy/Wigmore Hall Learning Programme, sono apparsi regolarmente sul palcoscenico della Wigmore Hall e in contesti comunitari, condividendo la musica con famiglie, bambini piccoli e persone affette da demenza. Un momento particolare è stata la conduzione di laboratori in sei scuole primarie di Tower Hamlets, in collaborazione con Spitalfields Music.
Il Quartetto Kyan è orgoglioso di promuovere la nuova musica. Hanno eseguito in prima assoluta a Wigmore brani commissionati da Florence Anna Maunders e Zhenyan Li, e hanno eseguito Symphony for String Quartet and Forest di Jacob Fitzgerald al Timber Festival 2022, con 200 bambini delle scuole che cantavano insieme al quartetto. I Kyan hanno collaborato con Cem Güven per registrare il suo quartetto Atmospheric Manipulations nel 2023 e saranno presenti nel prossimo album di debutto di Ben Nobuto.

Prizewinners of the 2024 Royal Over-Seas League competition and 2025 City Music Foundation artists, the award-winning Kyan Quartet brings together four exceptional musicians from the United Kingdom, the United States, China, and France. Established in 2020, the quartet enjoys a busy and vibrant career, having performed across Europe and Asia in venues including Wigmore Hall, St. Martin in the Fields, Beethoven-Haus Chamber Music Hall, Shanghai Opera House and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Hall.
As Tunnell Trust award holders, the quartet will tour across Scotland this February. They are looking forward to joining the Carducci Quartet in their Barbican Shostakovich cycle project, with three performances spanning March to May at Milton Court. Other upcoming highlights include debuts at St. John Smith Square, Barnes Music Society and Canterbury Music Club. Continuing their ongoing collaboration with Ahmed Dickinson, the Kyans will return to Conway Hall this November for a programme of guitar quintets. The quartet are grateful to be supported by Le Dimore del Quartetto.
The Kyans have held residencies with the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme and the South Downs Summer Music International Festival, and won places on prestigious courses, including the International Beethoven Masterclass in Bonn, Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland’s 68th International Chamber Music Campus and Chamber Studio’s inaugural Hans Keller Forum. Through these they have received coaching from all members of the Belcea Quartet, Heime Müller, John Myerscough, Jana Kuss, Alasdair Beatson and Péter Nagy. The quartet has also been coached by members of the Carducci, Doric, Heath, Jerusalem and Pavel Haas Quartets. They are currently being mentored at the Mozarteum University by Cibrán Sierra Vazquez, Rainer Schmidt and William Coleman.
Widening musical participation and access is central to the quartet’s artistic mission. They are Live Music Now artists, sharing their love of participatory music-making in care homes and SEND schools. The quartet give masterclasses and work with young composers at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. As the 2022/23 fellows of the Open Academy/Wigmore Hall Learning Programme, they appeared regularly on the Wigmore Hall stage and in community settings, sharing music with families, young children, and those living with dementia. A particular highlight was leading workshops across six primary schools in Tower Hamlets, in partnership with Spitalfields Music.
The Kyan Quartet pride themselves on championing new music. They have given Wigmore premieres of commissioned pieces by Florence Anna Maunders and Zhenyan Li, and performed Symphony for String Quartet and Forest by Jacob Fitzgerald at the 2022 Timber Festival, featuring 200 school children singing alongside the quartet. The Kyans collaborated with Cem Güven to record his 2023 quartet Atmospheric Manipulations, and will feature on Ben Nobuto’s upcoming debut album.

Quartetto Obliquo è un quartetto versatile che spazia dalle musiche sperimentali a quelle contemporanee, proponendo performance non convenzionali anche attraverso collaborazioni con compositori, strumenti e strumentisti appartenenti ai più diversi linguaggi musicali. Di formazione classica, si e’ costitutito nel 2019 con l’obiettivo di indagare sonorità che oltrepassino i confini timbrici e tecnici del quartetto d’archi tradizionale. Ha suonato per Trieste Classica, Fondazione Luigi Nono, Monom (FR) e collaborato con diversi compositori come Enrico Gabrielli, Sofia Pozdnyakova, Giovanni Mancuso. È stato quartetto in residenza presso Cosmogram (Giudecca – Venezia) ed è vincitore del Concorso Internazionale di Interpretazione di Musica Contemporanea Reate Festival 2024.

Quartetto Obliquo is a versatile quartet that ranges from experimental to contemporary music, offering unconventional performances also through collaborations with composers, instruments and instrumentalists belonging to the most diverse musical languages. Classically trained, it was formed in 2019 with the aim of investigating sonorities that go beyond the timbral and technical boundaries of the traditional string quartet. It has played for Trieste Classica, Fondazione Luigi Nono, Monom (FR) and collaborated with various composers such as Enrico Gabrielli, Sofia Pozdnyakova, Giovanni Mancuso. It was quartet-in-residence at Cosmogram (Giudecca – Venice) and is the winner of the International Competition for the Interpretation of Contemporary Music Reate Festival 2024.
